About The South African Guide Dogs Association For The Blind
The SA Guide Dogs Association is the only guide dog training centre on the african continent and has been training guide dogs for the blind since 1953. SAGA also trains service and social dogs for people with physical disabilities as well as train students in a SETA accredited two year diploma, on the skills of daily living and mobility using a white cane. They return to their communities and train the blind. It costs on average R58000 to train one guide dog over an 18 month period and only charge R5 when a guide dog is allocated to a blind recipient.
SAGA rely on the financial support of the general public as well as companies and corporate - be it products in kind, services or finacial support. Please contact the association on 011 705 3513/4 and discuss our needs with our fundraising department.
